Kain home damaged in fire

ASHTABULA — An attic fire caused an estimated $5,000 to $10,000 damage early Sunday morning when smoke came powering from an unoccupied home at 5003 Kain Ave., the Ashtabula Fire Department reports.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 2:15 a.m. to find the smoke coming from the attic of the one story wood frame home.

The home was empty and under renovation, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the city’s fire prevention bureau. The owner and insurance information were unknown, the fire department reported..

The fire department was on the scene for a bit more than an hour. Nobody was injured.
